Vortex Universe-by Cameron Royle

Earth

An inhospitable, albeit beautiful planet, Earth stands as a low technology, semi-developed quasi-paradise, with a great abundance of useful minerals, and brimming with life and the potential for it. It is home to millions of different species, with the most developed being that of the species Homo, or Human.

The Humans are both the friends and enemies of Earth.

They cultivate and preserve it, whilst choking it and polluting it. The air thickens with noxious vapours, and the water turns viscous with toxic agents. The diversity of life is beginning to thin- all in the interests of the greedy Homo Sapiens, who, in a matter of millenia have advanced from cave-dwelling troglodytes to a literate and reasonable, yet tumultuous and dogmatic race.

The planet lies in the Local Bubble in the Orion Arm, around 150 light years from the Hyades cluster and 2,400 light years from the Cygnus Rift. It is the third planet in orbit around an eight-planet, G3 star (the Humans name it the Sun) that is halfway through its long life. It has a single moon. Called the Moon.

Dasam

A planet adopted by the Dasam, a continuation of the Homo Sapiens species that originated from Earth. Of course, the lifetime of this planet takes place long after the Earth was engulfed by its dying Sun, and the remaining Dasam fled the Orion Arm in melancholia. They came to a halt at a planet with a similar size to Earth, and one able to be easily terraformed.

And that is what they did.

The planet Dasam is as beautiful as Earth, and more-so brimming with life and potential. The Dasam chose it because it had not already been spoiled. The planet is shrouded delicately in purple, wispy clouds, hiding scattered semi-continents on a vast, silver-luster sea, covered with trees with leaves of dark teal colour.

The planet lies 200 light years galactically south from the Jewel Box cluster in the Sagittarius Arm, orbiting a white F7 star (named the Cradle), a third of the way through its life. It has two moons, one large (Neoterra), and one small (Neosapia).
